Some Inspiration

This will be an on-going post.
A few weeks ago I emailed a bunch of Gaijin Gals, asking them if they would like to share some words of wisdom to Gals who are scared or discouraged to do Gal.
I hope this will inspire and encourage people^^
Please if you would like to add to this post email:  GyaruGal89@gmail.com
Send a Quote that has to do with Gal, and a few sentences of advice~

~Charlotte

There are no ugly women, only lazy ones.
-Helena Rubinstein
(To me, this is applicable to gal, effort is very important)

I think as advice, there's 2 things I would say to newcomers, 1 is more about feeling and self preservance, 2 is kind of practical about getting into the style, so you can pick what you like.
1.  I admire anyone that's willing to try, and learn. Some people might be mean, especially now that they can do it without showing their face, but people without a face are not entitled to an opinion about your looks~ Don't let them get you down.
2. I think to be successfull in this style, for many people means: crossing the borders of their comfort zone, even if it's just a little. If you've showed the courage to do that, you're already halfway.

I would say that Gyaru is a learning process, nobody is perfect right off the bat. Heck I am still growing and learning in the Gyaru-O style myself!
And as much as Gyaru can admire the models don't try to copy them exactly, the magazines are more of a source of inspiration than a code. I think the mistake most new gyaru make is trying to copy the styles EXACTLY but that doesn't really work, you have to make it your own somehow! In all honesty if you feel confident in your style it will shine through.

"Self-confidence is the golden key to any fashion"

And as for advice I would say:

There will be times where you have a few mess-ups here and there but thats all apart of the journey to be the gal you want to be. Like they say "Rome wasn't built in a day," and neither are gals.

~Shawna
Newer gals should always take advice seriously and try out a lot of new things before coming into their own style.
Its easy to get stuck in a particular look that a new gal might think she is doing right, but really isn't.
Everything comes from practice and you really have to give it your all to succeed with the style.
Having half assed attempts and posting pictures all over the internet, and then giving up when people
critique is pretty common but avoidable if you really give it your all and put the effort in!
Putting effort in is quite obvious, and not putting enough effort into the look is 100x more obvious.

~Lisha

If you want to do something, if you have a spark of fire inside of you for something you like, do it. Dont care what others might say to try to hurt you; dont let them keep you from doing something. but also take critiques and improve, and never let your head get too big.

~Neko-Chechi

"Just be who you are!!" (Don't be scare to show people how you are! Be positive and happy! And don't care about others say!)
and my personal quote that I love:
"Rock U!" (it's like you can do everything you want!)

~Lady Li

'Life and opportunity shrinks or expands in proportion to your courage.'

If there's something you want to try, try it. I think in order to be Gyaru (extreme styles, at least), you have to not care what others tell you. Even if that means hearing countless "You look horrible", "You would look better without all that crap on your face" or people staring at you every day. Because, I'm not going to lie, not everyone likes it. You will find that confidence can actually deter negative reactions most of the time though, so don't walk around with your head low, looking down and feeling nervous.

With all of that in mind, the most important thing I can stress to you is just to simply have fun. Otherwise, what is the point? <3

~Kassi

" Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter". I think what i would tell up and coming gals would be to don't be discouraged from what others say. People are always gonna talk so if they do, don't let it get to you. But don't be closed off to con-crit because that's the only way to get better.

~Tomo

''stay strong. Stay true. Stay gal. Stay you.''
And some advice id give to discouraged gals would be: fuck what others think. Gal is a fashion rebellion, do what makes you fucking happy. If you want big green hair, rock it! If you want a dark tan, rock it! if you want cyber dreads, ROCK IT!!!! =]

~Krystal

'Be you'
For advice. . . I would say. . . No matter what people may say or how they look at you, hold your head up high and do you.  No Gal is perfect, there's always room for improvement, and always be willing to take concrit.  OH and don't feel pressured to dress or look like what's in the magazine.  Don't be scared to play with your look either and try different things
