Gaijin Gal: Anna

Anna is a Gal from Canada.  Her blog is:  http://im-so-jelly.blogspot.com/
Her style is more of the sweeter side of Gal.  Very cute, natural Gal make up.  She kind of reminds me of the model Kumicky xDDD

I would like to see a more dramatic lash on her, top and bottom ^^
Also possibly some big curls too >:3

Very cute Gal though~!

you don't always have to look like models or base your style off them

This goes right along with that interesting email I received the other day:

You don't always have to go by what's in the Gal Magazines, yeah they're nice to look at and get inspiration from them, but chances are someone dressed up those models, did their hair and make up to make them look Gal.  I'm not bashing Gal Mags and Models, I like to look at them for inspiration and style ideas (that's what the mags are there for)^^, but just remember that you don't always have to look like them or base your style off them~

The real Gals are out and about doing their thing.
A good example of a real Gal doing her own thing:
You don't see models in magazines wear slippers shaped like feet.

Be yourself.

Good Skin Care Tips

Hello everyone,
I have recently been getting a few emails asking for skin care advice.
It's very important to keep your face clean and healthy looking~!

~Make sure to always wash your make up off before you go to bed, or at least use facial wipes to clean off your fondation
~I prefer using a facial scrub instead of just plain face soap because I feel like a scrub cleans out your pores better and it helps make your face feel smoother
~Face masks can be your best friend!  A good face mask can do wonders for your skin!  I like masks that have green tea in it~
~Good moisturizer can do wonders.  I like Olay, even though it's expensive, it's very good!  Always put moisturizer on before you put your make up on.  But make sure the moisturizer dries before applying make up otherwise your make up will look greasy
~Face Wipes are good for helping to clean off make up, but they can dry out your skin so be careful when using them

What does everyone else do for their skin care?   Please comment below~  I know a lot of Gals are always looking for new Skin Care tips and advice!

Some Inspiration

This will be an on-going post.
A few weeks ago I emailed a bunch of Gaijin Gals, asking them if they would like to share some words of wisdom to Gals who are scared or discouraged to do Gal.
I hope this will inspire and encourage people^^
Please if you would like to add to this post email:  GyaruGal89@gmail.com
Send a Quote that has to do with Gal, and a few sentences of advice~

~Charlotte

There are no ugly women, only lazy ones.
-Helena Rubinstein
(To me, this is applicable to gal, effort is very important)

I think as advice, there's 2 things I would say to newcomers, 1 is more about feeling and self preservance, 2 is kind of practical about getting into the style, so you can pick what you like.
1.  I admire anyone that's willing to try, and learn. Some people might be mean, especially now that they can do it without showing their face, but people without a face are not entitled to an opinion about your looks~ Don't let them get you down.
2. I think to be successfull in this style, for many people means: crossing the borders of their comfort zone, even if it's just a little. If you've showed the courage to do that, you're already halfway.

~Niijii

I would say that Gyaru is a learning process, nobody is perfect right off the bat. Heck I am still growing and learning in the Gyaru-O style myself!
And as much as Gyaru can admire the models don't try to copy them exactly, the magazines are more of a source of inspiration than a code. I think the mistake most new gyaru make is trying to copy the styles EXACTLY but that doesn't really work, you have to make it your own somehow! In all honesty if you feel confident in your style it will shine through.

~Nami

"Self-confidence is the golden key to any fashion"

And as for advice I would say:

There will be times where you have a few mess-ups here and there but thats all apart of the journey to be the gal you want to be. Like they say "Rome wasn't built in a day," and neither are gals.

~Shawna
Newer gals should always take advice seriously and try out a lot of new things before coming into their own style.
Its easy to get stuck in a particular look that a new gal might think she is doing right, but really isn't.
Everything comes from practice and you really have to give it your all to succeed with the style.
Having half assed attempts and posting pictures all over the internet, and then giving up when people
critique is pretty common but avoidable if you really give it your all and put the effort in!
Putting effort in is quite obvious, and not putting enough effort into the look is 100x more obvious.

~Lisha

If you want to do something, if you have a spark of fire inside of you for something you like, do it. Dont care what others might say to try to hurt you; dont let them keep you from doing something. but also take critiques and improve, and never let your head get too big.

~Neko-Chechi

"Just be who you are!!" (Don't be scare to show people how you are! Be positive and happy! And don't care about others say!)
and my personal quote that I love:
"Rock U!" (it's like you can do everything you want!)

~Lady Li

'Life and opportunity shrinks or expands in proportion to your courage.'

If there's something you want to try, try it. I think in order to be Gyaru (extreme styles, at least), you have to not care what others tell you. Even if that means hearing countless "You look horrible", "You would look better without all that crap on your face" or people staring at you every day. Because, I'm not going to lie, not everyone likes it. You will find that confidence can actually deter negative reactions most of the time though, so don't walk around with your head low, looking down and feeling nervous.

With all of that in mind, the most important thing I can stress to you is just to simply have fun. Otherwise, what is the point? <3

~Kassi

" Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter". I think what i would tell up and coming gals would be to don't be discouraged from what others say. People are always gonna talk so if they do, don't let it get to you. But don't be closed off to con-crit because that's the only way to get better.

~Tomo

''stay strong. Stay true. Stay gal. Stay you.''
And some advice id give to discouraged gals would be: fuck what others think. Gal is a fashion rebellion, do what makes you fucking happy. If you want big green hair, rock it! If you want a dark tan, rock it! if you want cyber dreads, ROCK IT!!!! =]

~Krystal

'Be you'
For advice. . . I would say. . . No matter what people may say or how they look at you, hold your head up high and do you.  No Gal is perfect, there's always room for improvement, and always be willing to take concrit.  OH and don't feel pressured to dress or look like what's in the magazine.  Don't be scared to play with your look either and try different things

Gaijin Gal: CiCi

CiCi is a Gal from California.  She doesn't have a blog but you can find her on FB~
Last I knew, she was in the Ive-Sa DIAMOND, but I'm not sure if she is in it any more.
Her hair and make up are always perfect looking.

CiCi is the one on the left

Circle Lenses

A lot of Gals wear circle lenses.  They help make your eyes bigger ^^

But some say they're dangerous. . .and can make you go blind.

First off, any contact lenses can make you go blind if you leave them in for way to long or sleep in them, or don't keep them clean >.>

I personally don't wear circle lenses, because I'm scared to put them in xD lol  One day I hope to get over that fear lol.

But I know a lot of Gals who wear them, and their eye sight is still fine!

Circle Lenses aren't a must, so don't feel obligated to wear them~
Some people can't wear them because they irritate their eyes.

Yeah, if they irritate your eyes, then you should definitely take them out right away.

If you wear them for a short amount of time, keep them clean, and don't sleep in them, then you should be risk free~

What does everyone else think about circle lenses?  Please comment below with your opinion if you'd like too~

Bounce Ko Gals, watch it!

My wonderful boyfriend surprised me with a movie called Bounce Kogals

I recommend this movie to EVERYONE!

It's a 90's movie, so its based on Kogals and when that all first started.

It's an amazing movie, words don't do it justice.

it's mainly about 3 girls, Lisa, Jonko, and Raku.  You see them venture through the day and night trying to make money for Lisa who is going to New York.

You watch them go on subsidized dates and get in trouble with Yakuza.

I don't want to go in to detail because I don't want to ruin it for anyone ^^

Movie Cover

This movie really shows you how close the bond between Gals can get, even if they don't know each other long.  It also shows the trouble Gals can land in, too, if one isn't careful.

Interesting Email

So today I received an E-mail from someone who saw my blog.  Her email inspired me to write this.

I feel like a lot of Gals who are new to the whole Gal fashion/life style feel pressure on them because certain online communities make it seem like there are set rules to the fashion, 'If you don't do this, then you suck,  you're not GAL'.

My point is:  It's ok to put your own twist on this style/life style.  It's ok to not go by what's in the magazine, granted that the make up style has a certain look to make you look Gyaru.  Also there are certain elements in a Gals style that make her a Gal.

But don't be scared to try something new with your style.  Don't be scared to buy clothing that aren't Gal brands. you make it Gal, along with other elements^^

Be yourself.

How do you think this all started?

Don't feel confined by all these rules, be creative with your look, add your own personal touch to everything you do.

Gal Secrets: pt. 2

Ok, so here's the second part of Gal Secrets.
First, thank you to everyone who commented and emailed me comments on Gal Secrets: Pt. 1.

I think the LJ Comm. Gal Secrets is mainly a breeding ground for Trolls.  Every now and then you do get actual concrit, funny secrets, or actual Gal secrets.

The sad thing is, the site is being used to bash Gals or beginning Gals.  Anons sit there and call them fat and ugly.  Yeah it's the internet, but this could be a reason why a lot of beginner Gals quit Gal right away or get discouraged.

Wasn't this site created to tell Gal Secrets and to give helpful Concrit, anonymously?

Instead, people sit there call people fat, make racist secrets, and tell Gals they're ugly.

When did people become so 'elitist', and create all these guidelines to being a Gal?

This is straight up bashing this Girl, she's not even ugly

This is what I would count as an actual Gal Secret

I agree so much with this

This secret is super sweet~
Instead of shit talking, why doesn't this poster give actual concrit

Why is there so much hatred in this comm.?  And why do people think that Gal has all these set in stone rules?
